Where it came from
Flutter of Birds II: Tenshi-tachi no Tsubasa was released in 2003 as an original video animation derived from the visual novel series developed by the Japanese studio Silky's. The studio, known for its focus on character-driven narratives within the adult software market, sought to expand the reach of their established intellectual property by translating the intricate relationships and emotional themes of the games into an animated format.
The production sought to maintain the visual fidelity of the original character designs, which were central to the series' identity. By focusing on the dramatic development of the protagonists, the project aimed to provide a supplementary experience for existing fans. While the OVA served to strengthen the brand's presence, it was primarily received as a niche addition to the broader franchise canon, appreciated mainly by those already invested in the internal lore and artistic style of Silky's catalog.
