A private organization called "GDW Project" announced that they are producing an anime which is related to the J9 anime trilogy, which aired in the early 80's.
As the representative of GDW Project, Yu Yamamoto posted a message to the Facebook page, stating that the new series will have a "J9 taste" but include entirely new characters and story. The previous series each adopted a different motif: the Hissatsu Series for Braiger, the Shinsengumi for Baxingar, and Around the World in 80 Days for Sasuraiger. Similarly, Ginga Jinpuu Jinraiger will use the Chinese classic novel Water Margin as its motif.

Where it came from
Galactic Divine Wind Jinraiger, known in Japan as Ginga Senpuu Jinraiger, was released in 1981 as the second entry in the Kokusai Eiga-sha J9 Series. Following the success of Braiger, this space-western anime sought to capture the same sense of high-octane adventure and stylized mecha action. The series was developed by the studio Kokusai Eiga-sha, focusing on a group of futuristic outlaws navigating a solar system filled with intrigue and mechanical conflict.
The character and mecha designs were heavily influenced by the aesthetic trends of early 1980s mecha anime, prioritizing a blend of rugged, frontier-inspired motifs with advanced science fiction technology. While it maintains a dedicated cult following among fans of the J9 trilogy, the series is generally noted for its experimental narrative tone and the distinct visual identity established by its creative team, serving as a pivotal piece of the Kokusai Eiga-sha legacy during the golden age of robot animation.
