Two young boys... the hero, Riliu, and his best friend Jowy, were members of a youth brigade of their home nation, the Highland Kingdom - a powerful military nation located in the north-east of the Dunan region.
The two of them looked up at the same starry skies, slept in the same tent, and believed in the same future. Once the fighting was over, and the night ended, their daily lives were sure to return.
Contrary to their hopes, the two boys become swept up in the whirlpool of fate, guided by the flames of war.
The powerless boys reached for, and grasped immense power. As the 108 stars shine brightly in the murky horizon, the boys step forward, each with their own beliefs for an answer-less question.

Where it came from
Gensou Suikoden is an animated adaptation produced by Konami Animation, announced for a 2026 release to commemorate the long-standing legacy of the beloved role-playing game series. The project serves as a bridge between the nostalgia of the original 1990s titles and contemporary animation standards, aiming to translate the intricate political themes and large ensemble casts characteristic of the franchise into a serialized narrative format.
The creative direction for this series focuses on maintaining the high-fantasy aesthetic established by the game's original character designers, while utilizing modern digital techniques to render the complex tactical battles and expansive world-building that define the Suikoden mythos. As a direct production by Konami, the series is designed to satisfy long-term fans of the source material while introducing the series' core tenets of destiny, conflict, and camaraderie to a global streaming audience.
