Shinomiya Kyouya is forced to become a new member of the GJ, an unidentified club that dwells in a room of the former building of a certain school. Here he meets the club leader, Mao, a short girl with a big attitude; Mao's younger sister, Megumi, who has the heart of a bipolar angel; the recognized genius with a lack of common sense, Shion; and the always-hungry and mysterious Kirara. Time flies with these unique girls around.

Where it came from
GJ Club, or GJ-bu, was produced by Doga Kobo and aired in 2013, based on the light novel series by Shin Araki. The series centers on the relaxed, episodic interactions of students within a school club, a format that captures the lighthearted slice-of-life trend prevalent in mid-2010s Japanese animation. VAP oversaw the distribution of the project, focusing on a low-stakes narrative structure that prioritizes character chemistry over traditional conflict.
The character designs were adapted by Miwa Oshima, who sought to maintain the whimsical and soft aesthetic established by the original illustrations. The series was received as a gentle, comedic reflection of club-room culture, notable for its minimalist approach to storytelling and its emphasis on the daily quirks of the central cast. It remains a representative example of the character-driven comedy genre produced during that period.
