A golden warrior wearing a cape and a scepter, Ougon Bat was a protector spirit from Atlantis reanimated by a scientist and his friends (specially the sweet Marie) from his tomb covered in hieroglyphics. His entry was heralded by a golden bat and a sinister laugh and he would put good use of his super powers to combat the evil forces of Dr. Zero.

Where it came from
The 1967 Golden Bat television series originated from the pioneering Japanese manga character created by Takeo Nagamatsu and Suzuki Ichiro in 1930. Originally appearing in kamishibai paper theater performances, the character was a dark, supernatural hero whose transition to live-action television in the late 1960s capitalized on the growing popularity of tokusatsu, or special effects-driven fantasy programs, in post-war Japan.
The series was produced by Toei Company, which sought to modernize the character for a younger audience by integrating stylized costume design and theatrical action sequences. While the production relied on the rudimentary practical effects typical of the era, it remains a significant touchstone in the evolution of the superhero genre in Japanese media, reflecting a shift toward serialized television storytelling that would later influence more globally recognized franchises.
