Where it came from
Great Pretender razbliuto serves as a sequel to the acclaimed 2020 anime series Great Pretender, produced by Wit Studio. The project was conceived to continue the globe-trotting capers of the Confidence Men while focusing on the character Dorothy, who was previously thought to be lost at sea. It retains the series' signature vibrant aesthetic and fast-paced narrative style, positioning itself as a bridge between the original show and potential future installments.
The production maintains the visual flair established by Wit Studio, characterized by high-contrast colors and a distinctively stylized character design palette. The story delves into themes of identity and memory, set against a backdrop of various international locations. Upon its 2024 release, the ONA was received as a stylistic expansion of the franchise, praised for preserving the kinetic energy that fans associated with the original con artist ensemble.
