Greek Roman Sinhwa: Olympus Guardian

Greek Roman Sinhwa: Olympus Guardian was produced in 2002 as a collaborative effort between South Korean animation studios and the Greek company SBS. The series was designed to serve as an accessible educational medium, adapting classical mythology for younger audiences by focusing on the narrative arcs of the Olympian gods. It emerged during a period of rising interest in international co-productions aimed at blending localized cultural storytelling with global historical interests.

The character designs were overseen by creative leads aiming for a balance between traditional anime aesthetics and the iconic visual representations of Greco-Roman sculpture. By simplifying complex mythological hierarchies into episodic dramas, the production team sought to humanize deity figures, making the source material relatable to students. Upon its release, the series was well-regarded for its high production values and remains a significant cultural touchstone for viewers who were introduced to classical literature through this specific adaptation.
