Where it came from
Growlanser IV: Wayfarer of Time serves as an animated adaptation of the tactical role-playing game originally developed by Career Soft for the PlayStation 2. Produced by the animation studio feel., this three-episode original video animation (OVA) series was released in 2005. It was designed to capture the complex, war-torn atmosphere of the source material, distilling the game's intricate narrative about the conflict between human technology and the gods into a serialized visual format.
The production sought to retain the signature aesthetic established by series illustrator Satoshi Urushihara, whose distinct, highly detailed character designs are a hallmark of the franchise. While the series was received as a stylistic companion to the core game, it faced the inherent challenges of condensing a sprawling tactical epic into a limited runtime. It remains a notable example of mid-2000s game-to-anime adaptations, valued primarily by franchise enthusiasts for its faithful visual interpretation of Urushihara's work.
