Nozomu wants to be a writer, but for now she's just trying to find the right story. Walking home from school one day she bumps into some guys, and even though it's an accident, they hassle her until she is saved by a mysterious man. His name is Ichiyou, and he is searching for Gods. Nozomu sends him along his way only to be approached by Tenkou, who is searching for his Master. Nozomu reunites Ichiyou and Tenkou; (and their abusive relationship), and gets a view of another world. The two men are on a journey to find the Gods. The world that was once supported by four evil Gods, has fallen to a crisis. Using song and dance, it is up to the kashikans to bring back the Gods which fled from their confinement…

Where it came from
Haigakura is a 2024 television anime series produced by Typhoon Graphics, adapted from the long-running fantasy manga series by Shinobu Takayama. The story is set in a mythical world where gods and humans coexist, following the journey of Ichiyo, a 'kayabito' tasked with recapturing runaway deities who have disrupted the balance of the world. The adaptation reflects a movement in contemporary anime to bring established, stylistically complex manga properties to the screen with modern digital animation techniques.
The series design is heavily influenced by Takayama’s original art, known for its intricate, ornate aesthetic and heavy emphasis on traditional Japanese motifs blended with high-fantasy elements. Typhoon Graphics focused on maintaining the ethereal, painterly quality of the source material, a challenging endeavor that defines the series' visual language. Upon its release, it was noted for its atmospheric world-building and fidelity to the character designs that fans of the original manga have long associated with the franchise.
