Imagine his bewilderment and surprise, then, when he inexplicably finds himself seven years in the past—one month before his first year of high school! Can Haibara avoid his previous mistakes, make his way to the top of the school social pyramid, and end up with the girl of his dreams? Or will he be forced to relive three years of solitude as the most hated guy in school? He’ll need all the help he can get in order to succeed, from a workout regimen to online how-to guides, a childhood friend, and plenty of sheer willpower. Watch as Haibara takes a second shot at his teenage years!

Where it came from
Haibara's Teenage New Game+ emerged as part of the 2026 animation slate produced by TBS. The series functions within a contemporary landscape of speculative fiction, drawing on tropes of temporal loops and second-chance narratives that have become a hallmark of the studio's recent output. It was developed to capture the intersection of character-driven drama and high-concept science fiction, aiming to provide a grounded emotional arc for a protagonist grappling with the complexities of navigating adolescence with the benefit of hindsight.
The production design reflects a deliberate effort to blend traditional aesthetic sensibilities with modern digital polish, overseen by an animation team focused on fluid character expressions and atmospheric world-building. Reception has been largely defined by interest in its thematic depth regarding personal growth and regret. As a mid-decade release, it is noted for its narrative pacing and the way it utilizes the medium to explore the repercussions of choice, marking it as a distinct entry in the genre of retrospective coming-of-age tales.
