Where it came from
Hajikechau! Dokidoki Trouble Freezing was released by Funimation in 2011 as part of the home media expansion for the Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple anime series. This special was produced to bridge content gaps and provide fans with additional comedic vignettes featuring the characters from the Ryozanpaku dojo, drawing directly from the tone and visual style of the original manga series created by Syun Matsuena.
The production sought to capitalize on the series' unique blend of high-stakes martial arts action and slapstick humor, a hallmark of the studio's adaptation efforts during that period. As a direct-to-video special, it was designed to appeal to established enthusiasts of the series, offering a lighter, fanservice-oriented narrative that reflected the aesthetic choices typical of the shonen adaptations licensed by Funimation at the turn of the decade.
