Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember My Mr. Lovecraft

Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember My Mr. Lovecraft was produced in 2011 by DLE, the studio renowned for its distinct flash-animation style and comedic short-form content. This release serves as an extension of the Nyaruko-san franchise, which reimagines H.P. Lovecraft's cosmic horror entities as anthropomorphic characters in light novel and anime formats. The production represents a shift toward absurdist, rapid-fire humor, condensing the esoteric mythos into an accessible, albeit unconventional, series of shorts.

The character designs draw heavily from the established aesthetic of the light novel series illustrated by Koin, translating those motifs into DLE's signature minimalist, cutout-style animation. By leaning into the surreal nature of the source material, the creators sought to subvert traditional horror tropes through self-referential comedy. At the time of its release, the project was received as a niche experiment that bridged the gap between serious Lovecraftian lore and the playful, fast-paced trends prevalent in contemporary Japanese internet culture.
