Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting! - Rising -

Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! - Rising - was produced by the acclaimed studio Madhouse and aired in 2013 as the third television adaptation of George Morikawa's long-running manga series. It continues the journey of Ippo Makunouchi, a timid high school student who discovers a passion for professional boxing. The series was designed to adapt the 'Rising' arc of the original manga, focusing on the character growth of secondary protagonists like Mamoru Takamura and Ryuhei Sawamura alongside Ippo's ongoing development in the ring.

The production sought to maintain the visual intensity and dynamic choreography that characterized previous iterations, utilizing Madhouse's signature emphasis on fluid motion to capture the brutality and technical precision of boxing. Jun Shishido directed the series, aiming to balance the high-stakes physical bouts with the series' characteristic humor and character-driven drama. While it was received warmly by long-time fans who appreciated the continuation of the franchise, it also marked a transition point in the studio's schedule as they adapted to the changing trends of the anime industry in the early 2010s.
