Where it came from
Released in March 2021 as a theatrical feature, this film serves as a crossover event between the seventeenth installment of the Precure series, Healin' Good Precure, and the Yes! Precure 5 GoGo! team. Produced by Toei Animation, the project was designed to celebrate the franchise's enduring legacy by reuniting legacy characters with a contemporary cast. The narrative centers on a dream-inspired setting, utilizing the visual motifs of Tokyo's fashionable districts to create a vibrant, fast-paced adventure that bridges two distinct generations of magical girl storytelling.
The film's visual identity was led by character designer Naoko Yamaoka, who aimed to harmonize the distinct art styles of the 2008 and 2020 animation aesthetics. The production was well-received by the franchise's dedicated audience for its nostalgic appeal and high-energy transformation sequences, which utilized modern CGI effects to pay homage to the classic, hand-drawn techniques of the original Yes! Precure 5 series. It stands as a significant bridge for long-term fans who grew up with the earlier iterations of the series.
