Heartcatch Precure! Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show... Desu ka!?

Heartcatch Precure! Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show... Desu ka!? was produced by Toei Animation and released in October 2010 as part of the long-running Pretty Cure franchise. Directed by Rie Matsumoto, the film serves as a feature-length expansion of the Heartcatch Precure television series, which focuses on themes of floral symbolism and the intersection of fashion with magical girl combat. Its production was strategically timed during the series' run to capitalize on its high popularity, shifting the setting to Paris to emphasize the series' core fashion-forward aesthetic.

The film's visual identity was heavily influenced by character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi, whose distinctive, fluid art style deviated from traditional Precure character designs to provide a more expressive, dynamic look. By leaning into high-concept fashion sequences and comedic action, the production team sought to elevate the franchise's cinematic presence. Upon its release, the movie received positive feedback for its creative animation choices and its ability to maintain the series' emotional sincerity while transitioning to a larger, international stage.
