HIMOTE HOUSE: A share house of super psychic girls

Himote House, which aired in 2018, was produced by studio Bouncy and directed by Kotaro Ishidate. The series was designed as a low-budget, experimental sitcom centered on five girls living together in a share house, each possessing distinct psychic abilities. The production utilized real-time motion capture technology, allowing the voice actresses to improvise much of their dialogue and animate their characters' movements dynamically, a stylistic choice that emphasizes the chaotic and comedic nature of the premise.

The series emerged during a period of experimentation within the Japanese animation industry, where creators sought to blend traditional character design with unconventional technical production methods. Upon its release, it received a modest reception from the anime community; while some viewers appreciated the unique improvisational approach and the quirky, deadpan humor, others found the limited animation style and niche premise to be a significant departure from mainstream expectations for the genre.
