Hinata no Aoshigure

Hinata no Aoshigure, released in 2013, stands as the debut theatrical project from Studio Colorido. It was produced during the studio's formative period under the leadership of director Hiroyasu Ishida, who sought to establish a distinct, vibrant visual identity characterized by fluid motion and a sense of nostalgic wonder. The film was conceived as a short-form showcase of the studio's technical capabilities and thematic focus on the bittersweet transitions of youth.

The film's visual design is rooted in a soft, impressionistic aesthetic that emphasizes light and atmosphere, moving away from the rigid outlines common in commercial anime of the era. Ishida, who also served as the primary animator, crafted the film to evoke the tactile sensations of childhood summers. While the short was noted primarily within animation circles and among enthusiasts of independent Japanese cinema for its evocative direction, it served as a successful proof-of-concept that eventually helped pave the way for the studio's later, more expansive feature-length productions.
