Where it came from
Hollow Mind emerged from the creative laboratories of Geidai Animation, a studio renowned for its rigorous approach to experimental storytelling and traditional craft. Released as a feature-length film, the project was conceived as an exploration of cognitive dissonance and the subconscious, intended to push the boundaries of the animation medium through abstract visuals and non-linear narrative structures.
The film's aesthetic identity was heavily influenced by the minimalist movements of the early twenty-first century, with lead animators focusing on monochromatic palettes and surrealist character designs to evoke a sense of detachment. Upon its release, it was met with a nuanced reception, garnering significant praise from critical circles for its technical ambition and philosophical depth, even as its challenging pacing limited its appeal to niche cinematic audiences.
