Hida Kizuna possesses the HHG (Heart Hybrid Gear) ability, but it is not strong enough to make him particularly important. His older sister calls him to transfer to a strategic defense school, where many of the students (many of which are large-breasted girls) use their HHG abilities to fight invaders from another world while wearing extremely skimpy pilot outfits. Kizuna's fighting ability doesn't measure up, but his sister has another plan; getting the girls to have erotic experiences with Kizuna, so that it will allow them to replenish their energy or power-up. It looks like his new school life is going to be full of embarrassment!

Where it came from
Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia was produced by Studio IMS and premiered in 2016 as a television anime adaptation of the light novel series written by Masamune Kuji. The project emerged during a period of experimentation within the ecchi-harem genre, attempting to blend high-concept sci-fi mechanics with heavy fan service. The narrative centers on Kizuna Hida and his ability to charge his power through intimate interactions with female pilots, a conceit that drew significant attention for its provocative premise.
The production sought to capitalize on the success of similar light novel adaptations that leaned into fantasy combat systems. However, the show was met with a polarized reception; while the character designs remained faithful to the source material's aesthetic, critics and audiences frequently cited the series' uneven pacing and the dominance of its suggestive themes over narrative development. Its design and execution remain a notable example of the more polarizing trends in mid-2010s anime production.
