The fighters of the Kanto region have been able to determine that the previously unknown attackers are from Nara and are connected to the Yamato School and its dangerous leader Himiko. With leaders Hakufu Sonsaku and Moutoku Sousou already stripped of their Magatama jewels by the attackers, only Gentoku Ryuubi remains as the only fully operational leader. In order to maintain sufficient fighting strength, the fighters of Nanyo, Kyosho and Seito join forces for the counterattack. Although they expect to fall into a skillful trap, in the end they have no choice and even Hakufu wants to join in. However, Hakufu is “forgotten” at one of the stations on the way to Nara…

Where it came from
Ikki Tousen: Western Wolves was released in 2019 as a three-episode original video animation series, continuing the long-running franchise based on Yuji Shiozaki's manga. Produced by studio ARMS, the project served as a direct follow-up to the narrative established in the preceding Ikki Tousen: Extravaganza Epoch, focusing on the ongoing martial arts conflicts between rival high school factions inspired by the historical figures of the Three Kingdoms era.
The animation reflects the aesthetic evolution of the series, maintaining its signature focus on high-energy combat sequences and stylized character designs. ARMS aimed to balance the franchise's established tone of intense action with the serialized storytelling requirements of a short-form OVA. Upon release, the series was received primarily by the dedicated fanbase, functioning as a bridge for the series' transition into subsequent installments like Shin Ikki Tousen.
