Where it came from
Released in 2011, Infinite Stratos Encore: A Sextet Yearning for Love serves as an original video animation that expands upon the narrative of the original Infinite Stratos light novel series and its subsequent anime adaptation. Produced by Eight Bit and licensed for North American distribution by Sentai Filmworks, this installment was created to provide fans with additional character-driven segments, leaning into the romantic comedy elements that defined the source material's popularity during the early 2010s.
The production maintains the aesthetic established by character designer Kumi Horii, whose work focuses on the distinct visual motifs of the series' powered exoskeletons and the varied personalities of the academy students. The animation was received by audiences as a lighthearted expansion of the franchise, emphasizing the domestic and comedic interactions between the protagonists rather than the tactical combat sequences that characterized the main television series.
