Jewel BEM Hunter Lime

Jewel BEM Hunter Lime was produced in 1996 as a three-part original video animation series by the studio TBS. It emerged during the mid-nineties boom of the sci-fi fantasy genre in Japan, positioning itself as a hybrid of magical girl archetypes and traditional mecha action. The project centered on the character Lime, a girl empowered by ancient jewels to fight against various monsters, reflecting the decade's interest in combining mystical lore with futuristic high-stakes combat.

The production sought to balance lighthearted character dynamics with more intense action sequences, a hallmark of the studio's stylistic choices during that era. While the series did not reach the heights of cultural ubiquity enjoyed by longer-running franchises, it remains a notable entry for enthusiasts of 1990s animation, representing the experimental and often eclectic tone of the OVA market before the industry shifted toward more serialized television production.
