Jikkyou Chuukei

Jikkyou Chuukei, which translates to Live Broadcast, represents a distinct era in 1990s Japanese gaming culture, specifically within the sports simulation genre. Developed by Konami, the title was designed to simulate the high-energy, play-by-play commentary experience of professional baseball, a cultural staple in Japan. The development team focused on incorporating authentic broadcast-style audio and visual cues, aiming to bridge the gap between playing a game and watching a televised broadcast.

The game is widely recognized for refining the mechanics seen in early baseball simulators, moving toward a more cinematic presentation that would eventually influence the long-running Power Pros series. It was received by domestic players as a technical achievement for its ability to mimic the frantic, rapid-fire nature of Japanese sports announcers, effectively setting a new standard for how sports games utilized the limited hardware of that generation to create atmosphere.
