Where it came from
Jikuu Ihoujin KYOKO: Chocola ni Omakase! is a short original video animation produced by Studio I.G in 2001. It serves as a visual adaptation of the manga series written by Arina Tanemura, a prominent shoujo manga artist known for her intricate character designs and fantastical storytelling elements. The project was intended to promote the source material and showcase the studio's ability to render Tanemura's distinct, detailed aesthetic within a fluid, animated format.
The production leans into the magical girl genre, focusing on the whimsical and high-energy narrative centered around the protagonist, Kyoko. The character design stays faithful to Tanemura's signature style, characterized by large, expressive eyes and elaborate costumes. While the release was limited in scope compared to major television series, it is well-regarded by fans of the era for its vibrant color palette and the faithful translation of the source material's charm into the anime medium.
