Jinki:Extend - And Then...

Jinki:Extend - And Then... serves as the concluding OVA episode for the 2005 anime adaptation of the manga series by Sirou Tsunasato. Produced by Feel and released in 2006 by Funimation, this addition was intended to provide a more definitive resolution to the complex narrative surrounding the mysterious giant mecha known as Jinki. The project emerged during a period of experimentation for the studio, attempting to capture the series' blend of personal coming-of-age drama and mechanical action.

The aesthetic of the project leans heavily into the mid-2000s transition from traditional cel-style animation to digital processes, reflecting a specific technical era in the medium. It maintains the character designs established in the preceding television series, focusing on the pilot Aoba Tsuzaki and her connection to these ancient machines. While the series maintains a niche status among collectors of the genre, it is remembered for its distinct visual identity and the earnest attempt to wrap up the multifaceted plot threads established in the manga's expansive lore.
