Where it came from
Jingzhong Baoguo, which translates to 'Loyal to the Country,' was produced by Hong Ying Animation and released as an original net animation. It serves as a modern digital exploration of historical Chinese narratives, specifically focusing on the legend of Yue Fei, a military general from the Southern Song Dynasty known for his unwavering patriotism and dedication to the state.
The production utilizes a distinct 3D animation style that reflects the broader industry transition during the early 2010s in China, where studios sought to adapt classical literature for digital-native audiences. While the technical execution was met with mixed reviews regarding its aesthetic departure from traditional ink-wash or cel-shaded styles, the project remains a significant example of the studio's attempt to reconcile historical storytelling with emerging web-based distribution formats.
