Where it came from
Just Awake is a single by the Japanese metalcore band Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas, released in 2011. It gained significant recognition as the first ending theme for the 2011 anime adaptation of Hunter x Hunter, which helped the band reach a much broader international audience. The track is characteristic of the group's signature fusion style, blending heavy electronic-core elements with high-energy pop sensibilities.
The song was composed and arranged by the band members, who were known for their distinct aesthetic that often incorporated synthesizer-heavy textures and rapid-fire vocal shifts. Its inclusion in a long-running shonen anime series cemented its status as a staple of early 2010s J-rock, reflecting the era's trend of pairing intense, genre-bending music with high-stakes animated storytelling.
