Kabukibu!: Oogiri - Chiyokoreito Kassen

Kabukibu! began as a light novel series written by Yuuri Eda, centered on a high school student’s passionate attempt to form a Kabuki club. Following the broadcast of the 2017 anime adaptation produced by Studio DEEN, a series of short, lighthearted specials titled Oogiri were released to expand on the characters' interactions outside of the formal club activities.

The specific special, Chiyokoreito Kassen, follows the traditional trope of Valentine's Day-themed episodes common in youth-oriented Japanese animation. It focuses on the comedic tensions surrounding gift-giving and interpersonal dynamics among the students, utilizing the distinct character designs by CLAMP, who were brought on to provide the original character drafts to give the series a refined and recognizable aesthetic that bridged the gap between traditional Kabuki art and modern shojo-style illustration.
