Kaijuu Girls: Ultra Kaijuu Gijinka Keikaku

Kaijuu Girls: Ultra Kaijuu Gijinka Keikaku was produced by Studio PuYUKAI and released in 2016 as an original net animation series. This project originated from the Ultra Kaijuu Gijinka Keikaku multimedia franchise, which re-imagined the iconic monsters from Tsuburaya Productions' long-running Ultraman series as anthropomorphized schoolgirls. The adaptation was designed to capitalize on the moe anthropomorphism trend, transforming destructive kaiju like Gomora, Eleking, and Agira into distinct characters with personality traits reflecting their original monster inspirations.

The production utilized the short-form comedy format characteristic of Studio PuYUKAI, emphasizing character-driven gags and lighthearted interactions within a school setting. Minoru Ashina directed the series, aiming to bridge the gap between classic tokusatsu fandom and contemporary anime aesthetics. Upon its release, the series was received as a niche spin-off, primarily appealing to established fans of the Ultraman franchise who appreciated the clever design motifs that translated physical monster attributes into costumes and accessories for the humanized characters.
