Where it came from
Kaijuu Girls: Ultra Kaijuu Gijinka Keikaku 2 is the second season of the anthropomorphic anime series produced by Studio PuYUKAI, released in 2018. This project originated from the Ultra Kaijuu Gijinka Keikaku multimedia franchise, which re-imagined the iconic monsters of Tsuburaya Productions' long-running Ultra Series as human girls. The adaptation was designed to expand upon the lighthearted, character-driven storytelling of the first season, focusing on the daily lives and developmental growth of these monster-girls within their specialized academy setting.
The animation style, characterized by its chibi-inspired aesthetic and comedic tone, reflects Studio PuYUKAI's signature approach to short-form anime. The series was designed to appeal to both long-time fans of the Ultraman franchise seeking a nostalgic twist on classic villains and newer audiences drawn to the popular gijinka, or personification, trend. Upon its release, the series was received as a niche but affectionate tribute to the source material, celebrated for its playful character designs and the creative integration of established kaiju traits into human personas.
