Where it came from
The Kandagawa Jet Girls OVA was released in 2020 as a direct extension of the multimedia project developed by Kadokawa, Marvelous, and EGG FIRM. Created to support the launch of the broader franchise, which included a console game and a television anime series, the OVA functions as a standalone narrative piece focusing on the high-speed sport of jet racing. It was designed to maintain the aesthetic established by the main series, emphasizing the dynamic character interactions and athletic competition that define the property.
The production sought to capitalize on the success of the overarching Jet Girls brand, leaning into the vibrant, character-driven style associated with EGG FIRM’s recent animation efforts. The design choices prioritize energetic visuals and a lighthearted tone, mirroring the competitive spirit of the original game's premise. Upon its release, the OVA was received as a supplementary installment for fans already invested in the franchise's world, serving to flesh out the backstories and interpersonal dynamics of the central racing duo.
