With the arrival of summer and the school break, Chizuru, Kota, and the rest of their friends are lazily enjoying the warm weather. Chizuru flirts with Kota, Kota gets embarrassed, and Nozomu gets in the way. Tayura pines after Akane, Akane rebuffs Tayura, and a sexy good time ensues. The status quo isn't quite the same since the fox snared her prey, but the timeless boy-meets-girl tale lingers on.

Where it came from
Kanokon: Manatsu no Dai Shanikusai was released in 2009 as a two-part original video animation series produced by Studio Xebec. It serves as a direct follow-up to the 2008 television anime adaptation of Katsumi Nishino's light novel series. This production was conceived to extend the lighthearted and often risqué romantic comedy antics of the original series, focusing on a summer festival setting that allowed for the franchise's signature blend of supernatural fantasy and slapstick fan service.
The animation design maintained the aesthetic established by the television series, which aimed to translate the light novel illustrations into a vibrant, high-energy visual style. As an OVA, the project benefited from the flexibility of the format, allowing for more elaborate character sequences than the episodic television constraints permitted. Upon its release, it was received primarily as a niche product catering to existing fans of the series, fitting comfortably within the late-2000s trend of expanding popular anime franchises through short-form home video releases.
