Katarina Nounai Kaigi

Katarina Nounai Kaigi is a 2020 original net animation produced by the Japanese studio AQUA ARIS. The project was conceived as an experimental, short-form digital production, capturing the specific aesthetic of independent anime development during the early 2020s. It functions as a character-focused study, utilizing a confined, surrealist setting to explore the internal dialogue of its protagonist within a minimalist visual framework.

The design philosophy behind the work prioritizes a stylized, abstract approach to character animation, intentionally diverging from the high-fidelity standards of mainstream commercial anime. By centering the narrative on the subjective experience of the titular character, the creative team aimed to leverage the medium of the short-format web release to foster a distinct, intimate connection with the viewer. Upon its release, it was noted primarily within niche animation circles as a stylistic exercise in introspective character storytelling.
