KAZU & YASU Hero Tanjou

Kazu & Yasu: Hero Tanjou was produced by Triangle Staff in 1995 as an animated chronicle of the professional origins of Japanese football icons Kazuyoshi Miura and Yasutoshi Miura. The project emerged during the mid-nineties, a period when the J.League was experiencing a surge in domestic popularity, prompting studios to explore the biographies of national sports heroes through the lens of animation. It was designed to bridge the gap between sports fandom and the youth-oriented appeal of the anime market.

The film's visual identity was defined by the house style of Triangle Staff, a studio recognized for its contributions to character-driven anime during the decade. While the narrative is straightforward, the production was intended to serve as both an inspirational piece and a commercial tie-in to the burgeoning football culture in Japan. Upon release, it was received primarily as a niche collector's item for enthusiasts of Japanese sports history and those interested in the crossover between professional athletics and pop culture media.
