Where it came from
Kemonokko Tsuushin: The Animation is a series of short-form original net animations released in 2022 that centers on the whimsical and anthropomorphic character designs of the artist known as Anmi. The project emerged from a desire to bring the illustrative style popularized in the Kemonokko (Animal Child) art series to life, focusing on themes of gentle domesticity and fantasy character archetypes.
The episode featuring Nekomusume Nia highlights the character's cat-like features and playful disposition, maintaining the distinct soft color palettes and expressive line work that defines Anmi's aesthetic. Upon its release, the animation was received by the niche anime community as a high-fidelity visual experiment, praised for its fluid character movement that successfully translated the static charm of the original character illustrations into a dynamic format.
