Where it came from
Kemonokko Tsuushin: The Animation is a 2025 original net animation (ONA) series that serves as an expansion of the Kemonokko franchise. Produced to capitalize on the series' established aesthetic, the project focuses on episodic, slice-of-life storytelling that centers on the daily activities of its anthropomorphic cast. The format was chosen specifically for digital platforms, allowing for a wider, international distribution strategy that aligns with contemporary animation trends.
The character Tanukiko Pokora was designed to capture a balance between whimsical charm and distinct physical traits, following the franchise's tradition of character-driven narratives. The animation team aimed for a soft, approachable visual style that emphasizes character expressions and fluid movement, which has been received as a faithful evolution of the series' established tone. By focusing on individual character studies like Pokora, the production sought to deepen viewer engagement with the broader Kemonokko world.
