Where it came from
KICK&SLIDE is a 2021 animated television series produced by the Japanese studio Craftar. The project was created as a creative collaboration with the popular Japanese dance and vocal group J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE, aimed at engaging younger audiences through a blend of music and character-driven slapstick humor. The series features anthropomorphic character designs that represent the individual members of the group, focusing on lighthearted, rhythmic adventures.
The production utilizes Craftar’s signature cel-shaded 3D animation style, which aims to bridge the gap between traditional anime aesthetics and modern digital rendering. Designed to be accessible and energetic, the show was received as a colorful extension of the EXILE TRIBE brand, serving as a gateway for children to connect with the performers while emphasizing themes of dance and rhythmic movement.
