Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo Special: Hashire! Ryoutsu-shiki Chin Chin Densha - Omoide no Daijirou-gou

This special was produced in 2006 as part of the long-running Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo franchise, commonly known as Kochikame. Originating as a manga by Osamu Akimoto in 1976, the series chronicles the chaotic daily life of police officer Kankichi Ryotsu in Tokyo's Katsushika district. This specific entry was released during the height of the anime's popularity, designed to capitalize on the audience's nostalgia by blending the series' trademark slapstick humor with a sentimental narrative centered on a historic tram line.

The animation was produced by Gallop, the studio responsible for the series' television adaptation since 1996. The creative team aimed to maintain the established visual shorthand and frantic pacing that defined the franchise, while the script focused on Ryotsu's typically misguided attempts to preserve local history. Upon release, it served as a standalone celebration of the characters' enduring cultural presence in Japan, reinforcing the series' status as a cornerstone of late 20th and early 21st-century shonen comedy.
