Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo Special: Let's Go Nagasaki! Koi Shigure Truck Nee-chan

Released in 2002 as a special television installment of the long-running Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo franchise, this episode—often referred to as 'Let's Go Nagasaki! Koi Shigure Truck Nee-chan'—expanded the adventures of the irreverent police officer Kankichi Ryotsu. The series, originating from Osamu Akimoto’s manga in Weekly Shonen Jump, maintained its status as a cultural institution in Japan by blending slapstick comedy with localized cultural exploration. This specific special was produced by Studio Gallop and sought to integrate the series' signature humor with the scenic and historical backdrop of Nagasaki, a common trope in anime specials of the era intended to highlight Japanese regional tourism.

The production team maintained the established visual style of the series, characterized by Akimoto's distinct, blocky character designs that prioritize expressive comedic timing over fluid realism. While the episode adhered to the established episodic formula that made the franchise a staple of Japanese Sunday evening television for decades, the narrative focused on a road-trip dynamic typical of the show's departure episodes. Upon its broadcast, it was received as a standard but welcome extension of the series' longevity, reinforcing the franchise's ability to maintain a consistent audience through its familiar blend of workplace absurdity and heartwarming, if chaotic, character interactions.
