Kwaegeol Longman Narongi

Kwaegeol Longman Narongi, known internationally as Green Saver, is a South Korean animated television series produced by Studio Kaab. Debuting in the early 2000s, the series emerged during a period of significant growth for the Korean domestic animation industry, aimed at revitalizing interest in local superhero narratives for children. The show centers on the titular character, Narongi, who gains extraordinary abilities through a combination of traditional heroic tropes and a distinct comedic sensibility.

The design of the series reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of Studio Kaab, favoring vibrant, rounded character archetypes intended to appeal to a younger demographic. The animation style utilizes a digital 2D approach common to that era's television output, focusing on expressive movement and slapstick pacing. While it was received primarily as a domestic children's program, it stands as a notable example of the studio’s efforts to establish a unique identity in the competitive market of turn-of-the-millennium broadcast animation.
