Where it came from
Lan Wang Shengji Jihua, or 'The Lan Wang Ascension Plan,' is an original net animation produced by Xuni Pictures. It emerged within the vibrant landscape of mid-2010s Chinese digital animation, a period characterized by rapid investment in domestic intellectual property and a move toward high-fidelity, stylistically distinct 3D and hybrid animation techniques intended for streaming platforms.
The project was designed to test the limits of character-driven narrative storytelling within the constraints of the ONA format. Xuni Pictures focused on refining the aesthetic consistency of their digital assets, aiming to provide a seamless visual experience that balanced intricate environment textures with fluid character movement, garnering interest from audiences following the rise of high-production Chinese fantasy and sci-fi animation.
