Laogong Wo Yao Chi Kua Ni

Laogong Wo Yao Chi Kua Ni, also known as My Husband, I Want to Eat Your Melon, is a Chinese web animation (ONA) released within the digital landscape of the late 2010s. It emerged during a period of rapid growth for Chinese online animation, a space characterized by short-form content and adaptations of popular web novels or internet-native stories. The series reflects the thematic trends of the era, focusing on humorous, hyperbolic relationship dynamics and slice-of-life scenarios that resonate with younger, digitally native audiences familiar with social media culture.

The animation style is indicative of budget-conscious digital production, emphasizing expressive character reactions and punchy, episodic storytelling rather than fluid, high-frame-rate movement. Produced by domestic studios catering to platforms like Bilibili and Tencent Video, the design choices prioritize visual clarity and character recognition to facilitate the spread of memes and short clips. Reception has been largely defined by its niche popularity among domestic viewers who appreciate its comedic timing and the lighthearted, often absurd nature of its narrative premise.
