The anime shorts are set in the fictional Line Corporation with a motley crew of idiosyncratic workers. There is the narcissistic section head and president's son James, the subsection head Moon (who is always gone somewhere but somehow gets his work done), the quiet but kindhearted subsection head Brown, and the subordinate Connie who is in an endless loop of yo-yo diets and weight gains.

Where it came from
LINE OFFLINE: Salaryman, produced by TV Tokyo in 2013, originated as a short-form animated series based on the popular characters from the LINE messaging application. The series was designed to expand the brand's reach by giving its iconic sticker characters, such as Brown, Cony, and Moon, distinct personalities and narratives within a workplace setting, reflecting the daily humors and frustrations of corporate life.
The animation style features a clean, minimalist aesthetic that mirrors the simplicity of the original digital stickers. Directed by Tetsuro Oda, the show was crafted to appeal to a broad demographic by utilizing silent, physical comedy that transcended language barriers. It was well-received by fans of the mobile app, serving as a successful example of transmedia storytelling that elevated static digital assets into a recognizable television franchise.
