Where it came from
Lingeries is a two-episode original video animation produced by Studio Fantasia and released in 2003. It emerged during a period when the studio was heavily focused on the adult-oriented OVA market, a genre that flourished in Japan during the late 1990s and early 2000s by targeting a niche demographic of mature viewers through specialized home media releases.
The series was designed to emphasize its character-driven aesthetic, a hallmark of Studio Fantasia's house style at the time. While the animation followed common tropes of the era's fan-service-heavy productions, it was received primarily as a standard entry in the studio's broader catalog, serving as a reflection of the economic and creative environment that sustained independent animation houses through direct-to-video distribution models.
