Luo Xiaohei Zhan Ji: Fan Wai

Luo Xiaohei Zhan Ji: Fan Wai, or the Extra Episodes of The Legend of Luo Xiaohei, emerged from the expansion of the beloved Chinese web animation series created by the animator MTJJ and his studio, HMCH. Following the initial success of the main ONA, these additional segments were produced to deepen the world-building and character backstories that the primary narrative could not fully accommodate. The series is celebrated for its distinctive minimalist aesthetic, fluid character animation, and a whimsical yet surprisingly intricate emotional tone that resonates with a broad audience.

The design of these episodes maintains the studio's hallmark style—characterized by clean lines, expressive visual humor, and a focus on slice-of-life storytelling. MTJJ intended these additions to serve as a bridge between major story arcs, allowing fans a closer look at the everyday interactions of the spirit world. Upon their release, they were well-received by the animation community for preserving the charm of the original work while providing further artistic experimentation that showcased the studio's growth in visual composition and narrative pacing.
