Luo Xiaohei Zhan Ji: Xue Qian Pian

Luo Xiaohei Zhan Ji: Xue Qian Pian, also known as The Legend of Luo Xiaohei: Prelude, serves as a prequel series to the widely acclaimed original web animation. Produced by Bilibili and the original creative team, this installment was developed to expand upon the backstory of the protagonist and his companions. It emerged from the dedicated cult following of the original series, aiming to provide a deeper emotional narrative for long-time fans while maintaining the signature minimalist yet expressive animation style that defines the franchise.

The visual identity of this production reflects the evolution of MTJJ’s original character designs, balancing familiar aesthetic elements with higher production polish facilitated by the partnership with Bilibili. The project was conceived as a way to enrich the world-building of the Xiaohei universe, focusing on the character's origins before the events of the feature film and the main series. Critics and audiences have generally received the work as a faithful and visually charming continuation that preserves the gentle, whimsical spirit of the source material.
