Macross Delta: Zettai Live!!!!!!

Macross Delta: Zettai Live!!!!!! was released in 2021 as the second feature film entry in the Macross Delta series. Produced by Satelight, it serves as a climactic conclusion to the narrative arc involving the tactical sound unit Walküre and the aerial knight squadron of the Windermere Kingdom. The film was developed to expand upon the themes of music as a weapon and a unifying force, integrating high-stakes aerial combat with the elaborate musical performances that define the franchise.

The production team, led by director Kenji Yasui and supervisor Shoji Kawamori, focused on pushing the technical limits of the series' signature transforming mecha animation. Kawamori, the legendary creator of the Macross universe, aimed to weave together the political tensions of the Macross Delta storyline with the emotional stakes of the idol-focused sub-genre. Upon its theatrical release in Japan, the film was received as a visual spectacle that honored the long-standing traditions of the series while providing a definitive resolution for its central characters.
