Macross Δ: Pajama no Megami-tachi

Macross Δ: Pajama no Megami-tachi, or The Goddesses of Pajamas, was released in 2016 as a special short accompanying the home video release of the Macross Delta television series. Produced by studio Satelight, this project served as a playful epilogue or side-story to the main narrative, focusing on the tactical music unit Walküre. It fits within the tradition of Macross franchise specials, which often utilize a lighter, slice-of-life tone to showcase character dynamics outside the intense military conflict central to the series.

The visual design reflects the aesthetic established by character designer Majiro and the wider Satelight team, who sought to blend the iconic futuristic mecha styling of the Macross franchise with the distinct idol-focused imagery of the Delta sub-series. By emphasizing the casual, domestic settings of the characters, the short was designed to appeal to fans invested in the interpersonal bonds between the members of Walküre. It was generally received as a lighthearted diversion that leaned into the franchise's long-standing appreciation for character-centric fan service.
