Fuu and Rui are two sisters who used to be close, but have been a bit distant from each other recently. One day, Fuu encounters a mysterious spaceship and gains magical powers. At that same time, Rui also gains magical powers, and both transform into the adults they dream to be. The sisters' powers come with two conditions: their magic powers can only be used in one year, and no one must know about it. Unaware of each other's secrets, Fuu and Rui become active as idols.

Where it came from
Magical Sisters LuluttoLilly was produced by Studio Pierrot and released in 2026 as a contemporary contribution to the long-standing magical girl television genre. The series emerged during a period when the studio sought to revitalize classic aesthetic tropes through modern animation techniques, aiming to balance traditional character-driven storytelling with high-fidelity visual effects that characterize current industry standards.
The character designs were conceptualized to emphasize expressive, fluid animation, drawing on the studio's extensive history with the genre to create a distinct visual identity. Upon its debut, the series was noted by critics for its meticulous production quality and its adherence to the core emotional pillars of magical girl narratives, securing its place as a representative work of mid-2020s Japanese animation.
