The anime promises a "new and novel 'sleeping side-by-side' experience entirely in the first-person perspective" to "heal tired hearts." It revolved around 12 "makura no danshi" (pillow boys), all full of distinctly individual personalities and each catering to viewers who like a certain "type." The boys all live in the same town underneath a starry sky. Each of the "makura no danshi" will star his own weekly episode as they "sleep beside you and whisper."

Where it came from
Makura no Danshi, or Pillow Boys, was produced by studio feel. and aired in 2015 as a unique experiment in the first-person immersion genre. Conceived as a short-form television series, each episode was designed to simulate the experience of lying in bed next to a different character, with the primary goal of providing a soothing, parasocial narrative to help viewers unwind at the end of the day.
The series was animated with a focus on intimate, character-driven storytelling, utilizing a rotating cast of voice actors to portray distinct archetypes intended to appeal to a wide variety of audience tastes. While the experimental nature of the project garnered attention for its unconventional premise, the reception was largely centered on its niche role within the late-night anime landscape, serving more as a meditative viewing experience than a traditional narrative drama.
